I was born in Nigeria, West Africa. I enjoyed a major portion of my childhood and teenage years in Louisville, Kentucky. I got my undergraduate degree in biochemistry from DePauw University in Greencastle, Indiana. I received a master's degree in physiology from University of Louisville and had the opportunity to work at the National Institute on Aging of the National Institute of Health in Baltimore, Maryland shortly after. I received my medical degree from University of Kentucky College of Medicine and a MPH from Johns Hopkins Bloomberg SPH. While in medical school, I had great opportunities to be involved in public health research and clinical medicine in USA, Egypt, Brazil and Kenya through AMSA, Fulbright-Fogarty fellowship and CDC. I have strong interests in community development, global health, medical anthropology, and chronic disease management in low resourced settings.
