Teaching in both formal and informal settings is a daily part of life in our residency program. Rotations in inpatient medicine, night float, obstetrics, and pediatrics among others have scheduled curricular topics presented in small group lectures or round table discussion formats during the course of the rotations.
In addition to the rotations, residents provide comprehensive care for their panel of patients in the Family Health Center.
Residents may choose a total of two inpatient electives and a multitude of outpatient electives within the UPMC System.
Research and Scholarly activity are integral to the practice of family medicine. The UPMC McKeesport Family Medicine Residency Program in accordance with the ACGME mandate to incorporate scholarly activity into the residency curriculum has wholeheartedly embraced this culture.
