August 31, 2024
On the morning of August 31, 2024, the Usman Ahmed Conference Center was filled with laughter, smiles and tons of food! We kicked off celebrating the 50th anniversary of our residency program with welcome speeches from the Department Chair of Family Practice, Edward Goralczyk, MD. and one of our former residents, Jeremy D'Souza, MD.
After their warm welcome, the hospital staff were gracious enough to sponsor an overwhelming breakfast while those in attendance heard tales "through the decades" from several former/current residents/faculty including doctors: Sann Mon, Robert Bazylak, Daniel Medic, Essam Demian, Chaya Ray & Carlie Hoffman.
From there, our attendees were eligible to participate in a scavenger hunt while touring through the following buildings: the hospital, our 9th Street Clinic and our Latterman Family Health Center. Many of the former faculty and residents reminisced while walking through the halls and sitting in the chairs they once used during their time in the program.
The evening portion of the celebration took place at Point View Hall in the Carnegie Science Center! A fun-filled night led by 2 of our former residents, Brit Gayle, MD & Jin Cheng, MD night filled with desserts, a tribute video, trivia, prizes, raffles, dancing, more food, an interactive children's show and private access to the BodyWorks exhibit! We also heard from Stephanie Dewar whose father, Dr. Rudolph Buck, started the program in 1974, our current Program Director, Jeff Jackson, MD and our Department Chair of Family Medicine, Tracey Conti, MD.
Thank you to all of the staff, faculty, residents, planning committee and all of the donors who made this event and the last 50 years possible!
